A New Reality
The newest series of paintings. Playing around with designs and depth while exploring color theory. Mixing the ideas of manmade, geometric feel with an organic, natural nature. I find it interesting to play with that juxtaposition of our technology filled lives within the nature of our own world. The hard edges and shapes represent the industries and cities we have created. The organic textures, free flowing paint applications, and nature aspects connect to the beauty and life that Earth gives us. This series mixes these two together in a way that many of our lives are mixed with nature and technology.
Acrylic Abstract Works featuring landscapes and cityscapes
Whenever I can, I try to travel. When I do, I really enjoy taking in the surroundings and reimagining them in a more playful and abstract view. When painting, I enjoy experimenting with colors and trying to choose colors that really compliment each other when side by side. All of the backgrounds start with the same process. A lot of paint is used to layer on top of each other to create that texture for the background. This is mostly done by scraping paint on with a pallet knife. Then the fun truly begins when I get to play around with shapes and colors to create landscapes. For the cityscapes, I tried to find things around the studio that I could use as stamps for the windows on each building. I ended up using paperclips, popsicle sticks, binder clips, washers, tape dispenser, paintbrush tip protectors, and any other random item that can be dipped used as a stamp. This is a lifelong series for me so there will be more to come!
